Hyaluronic acid is a mucopolysaccharide that is included in many tissues of the organism. It has the property to adhere to the mucus of the ocular surface, thus protecting, humidifying and lubricating.
Thanks to its mucoadhesive properties it remains for a long time on the eye surface and stabilises the lachrymal film thus bringing relief to the dry eye.
The Ginkgo biloba extract,commonly used in many fields of medicine, has components with antioxidant and protective activities on the ocular surface.
These substances, especially the flavinoids, are capable of neutralising the free radicals that, otherwise, would damage the corneo-conjunctival cells.
The sodium hydroxymethylglycinate (N-IG) contained in OPTOsol^® is a new amino acid derivative that, thanks to its antimicrobial activity, has an effective preservative action and is free from negative effects on the ocular surface.
